The Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade on Friday, June 24, 2022, and now millions of women in the US will lose their constitutional rights to abortion.
The decision, which ruled on Jan. 22, 1973, was considered a major victory for women’s rights and their ability to choose whether or not they wanted to have children. But today’s ruling will overturn that decision, leaving millions of women in the US without access to abortion.
The judgment is expected to have a significant impact on millions of American women who will now have to travel long distances or spend thousands of dollars on abortion.
People protested all around the nation, outraged that the government was even trying to regulate women’s bodies.
The decision is a defeat for pro-choice and women’s rights supporters across the nation.
Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and Megan Tee Stallion were a few of the celebrities who used their status to raise awareness of the problem.
Eminem’s Twitter is a place where he keeps his fans up to date with his latest music but on Sunday (June 26), he used his platform to share a resource for his Michigan community.
In response to the ruling, Eminem tweeted: “As a father, it pisses me off that women have fewer rights 2day than just a few days ago… we r f****n goin bckwards. Here’s how 2 help in Michigan.”
Marshall Mathers has always done his best to give his children a better life. Hailie (26), Alaina (28), and Stevie (19) are the three daughters of the legendary rapper.
Despite growing up in a difficult environment without a father figure, Eminem has always been a loving and devoted parent.
Eminem wasn’t alone in his thoughts on the matter, Megan Thee Stallion also took to Twitter to express her thoughts on the Supreme Court’s Decision.
On Friday, June 24 Megan Thee Stallion tweeted: “The court has failed us all — but we won’t back down. I’m going to keep fighting because everyone deserves access to the care they need. Join me and @PPact: BansOff.org.
With the hashtag #BansOffOurBodies, Megan closed her tweet.
On Saturday, June 25 (2022) Megan Thee Stallion performed at the Glastonbury Festival.
The five-day festival is an annual music festival that takes place every year since 1970. It is held on Worthy Farm in Somerset and attended by around 200,000 people each year.
During her set at the Glastonbury Festival, Megan Thee Stallion’s decided to speak up against the abortion prohibition in her native Texas.
After the Supreme Court decided to overturn Roe v. Wade, which established abortion as a basic right, Megan said: “Now, y’all know it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t take a second to call out these stupid a** men.”
A trigger law that would make abortion illegal 30 days after the Supreme Court’s decision was enacted by the state legislature in Texas. Many independent abortion providers temporarily ceased offering abortion services in Texas because of fear of punishment.
“I mean, God damn. What else do you want? Texas really embarrassing me right now, y’all know that’s my home state.”: Megan remarked.
Megan continued: “My body my *mf choice”
The native Texan asked the Glastonbury audience to repeat her words: “I need everybody in the audience right now to say my body, my *mf choice.”
Kendrick Lamar is known for his politically-charged lyrics, but the rapper took his activism to a whole new level on Sunday night.
K-Dot, whose Glastonbury Festival set for 2020 was postponed due to COVID-19, finally performed on Sunday, June 26.
The rapper’s performance at Glastonbury was the most talked about at the festival, and not just because he performed songs from his new album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.
During Kendrick Lamar’s performance “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers” at Glastonbury 2022 he made a powerful statement.
Lamar closed his performance by doing “Savior,” which was followed by a chant: “Godspeed for women’s rights; they judge you, they judge Christ!” while blood started coming down his face. The blood was coming from a diamond-encrusted crown of thorns.
The diamond-encrusted crown of thorns on Lamar’s head was where the blood was flowing from. According to Vogue, the crown was created in association with Kendrick, Dave Free, and Tiffany & Co.
Kendrick Lamar will head on The Big Steppers Tour next month with pgLang artists Baby Keem & Tanna Leone.
The tour will begin on July 19 at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City.
