This isn't an isolated incident: it's an issue that's been plaguing the industry for years.

The incident follows a disturbing pattern, in which high-profile rap artists who have been shot and killed after posting their location on social media.

In February 2020, 20-year-old Pop Smoke was killed in his Los Angeles rental house during a home invasion.

The rapper's friend made the mistake of posting at least one photo on social media with an address in the background that could be seen clearly—which led to Pop Smoke's death.

To make matters worse, social media has become such an integral part of our that people don't even realize how much danger they're putting themselves in when they share information about where they are and what they're doing on these platforms.

Although we don't think about it much, the way we share personal information online can be dangerous to us as well as others.
