After pleading guilty in a federal firearms conspiracy case, Pooh Shiesty is no longer facing a life sentence.

According to Rolling Stone, is no longer facing a life sentence after pleading guilty to a federal charge of conspiracy to possess a handgun in furtherance of violent and drug-trafficking activities.

The rapper has agreed to plead guilty to a single felony offense in connection with a 2020 shooting at a Florida hotel as part of a plea deal in which federal prosecutors would propose an eight-year prison sentence.

The indictment relates to an encounter in Florida in October 2020, during which the rapper allegedly shot a 28-year-old man in the buttocks while attempting to buy sneakers and marijuana.

Federal prosecutors have dismissed three other accusations that might have resulted in a life sentence after he pled guilty.

Shiesty pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to carry a firearm in furtherance of violent and drug-trafficking crimes, according to a copy of the agreement filed in federal court in Miami on Tuesday, January 4.

Three further charges in exchange will be dismissed by the prosecutors, including a more serious claim that Shiesty fired the firearm himself.

Prosecutors will only seek 97 months in prison for Shiesty, whose real name is Lontrell Williams, under the conditions of the agreement.

The Memphis rapper would have risked a much harsher term if convicted of all four counts; a federal charge of shooting a gun in furtherance of a violent crime carries a minimum 10-year penalty.

Shiesty might now be sentenced to eight years in prison.

According to Rolling Stone, although Magistrate Judge Lauren Fleischer Louis stated that such a result was not certain.

The Federal Detention Center in Miami is still holding Pooh Shiesty. As he awaits trial on robbery and gun allegations, a federal court ordered Shiesty to stay in custody without bond.

Bradford Cohen, his defense lawyer, told Rolling Stone in October why he agreed to the deal: We've entered into plea negotiations because there have been developments in the case that I think changed the dynamics of the case.”
