A number of rappers, including Meek Mill and NBA YoungBoy, have criticized Atlantic Records.
Meek’s remarks come as YoungBoy Never Broke Again is making news for allegedly attacking Atlantic Records, which he is also a part of.
“Why black ball me I’m the good guy!!!??” YoungBoy wrote “I was going #1 two weeks straight with a mixtape so they took it down off the charts. I don’t give a f**k you still can’t stop me don’t sign to Atlantic if you an artist they not gone support you especially if you live a certain way.”
Meek Mill took to Twitter on Tuesday to express his frustrations, claiming that Atlantic Records won’t allow him to release music until 9 months after his previous album was blackballed.
“They didn’t put nothing into expensive pain and then said I can’t drop another project for 9 months at the end of my contract after I made them 100’s of millions ….. how would can anybody survive that … most rappers can’t speak because they depend on these companies “ I don’t””

“So look I made Atlantic records 100’s of millions and let them rape me out out Roddy a artist they came to me about in jail … they still saying I can’t drop music until 9 months after my last album got blackballed just wrapped buildings and Nina art with talent …”

Meek claims that his music was blackballed. However, the rapper’s album Expensive Pain premiered at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 list in October.
The Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill talked about how Atlantic Records tried to separate him and Roddy, and how the label tried to do the same thing with him and Rick Ross.
“Roddy my youngin still …. But that label seperated us instantly when the millions came in from him… same thing they tried to do with me and rozay … it takes a long time to catch up too because most of em tied in for the love of some money …artist scared to speak up”

Meek Mill also revealed that he was kicked out of Roddy’s career despite putting in a lot of effort with the young rapper.
“They brought him to me and cut me out soon as the money came…the label should have paid me not ‘Roddy’ then they fed him like I was tryna lock him in…I was tryna help and eat ain’t get a Dolla from the label!” Meek wrote, “Good now this not about him at all…they would of let us go to war and made the money still.” he continued.
“If I didn’t have millions I’d prolly do something crazy …. They out smarting young black kids taking advantage and calling it business! Other artist speak up and tell the truth while you winning not when you down!”

“I had to think Roddy didn’t come to me he was on his own grind … they bought him to me and cut me out soon as the money came … the label should of paid me not “Roddy” then they fed him like I was tryna lock him in … I was tryna help and eat ain’t get a Dolla from label!”

“Also I had to fight for my life to get dc4 counted as a album because they said I “called it a mixtape” if y’all made 20 million off it what is it counted as?”

“Me and Roddy good now this not about him at all … they would of let us go to war and made the money still … I had to say im rich that’s my youngin and turn to these people and ask wassup for my work they asked me to do! I ain’t get a dollar”

The Philadelphia rapper also brought up the fact that he had to “fight for my life” to have Dreamchasers 4 considered as a real album rather than a mixtape, asking, “If y’all made 20 million off it what is it counted as?”
Expensive Pain was released by Atlantic Records, along with Dreams Worth More Than Money in 2015, Wins & Losses in 2017, and the Grammy-nominated Championships in 2018. Meek Mill, on the other hand, maintains that his upcoming songs will be self-produced.
On Sunday morning, Meek Mill tweeted, “It’s about to come back around again,” I’m tryna drop some shot once a week until I drop.”
Later that afternoon, Meek went to the social media platform to post, “No major label… So every time I make real money off music… ima invest a million in my hood… off the flow! Pay attention ‘real steppa s###.’
Over the previous several weeks, Meek Mill has teased “Block Chain Music” in his Instagram photos. Meek captioned: “DC5 10m a mixtape no major label .”
