Drake has taken up another interest, this time involving pricey boxes of basketball trading cards, in addition to his roulette games.
The Canadian rapper got into the trading card trend in March when he spent $15,000 for 14 NBA Flawless packages of cards, and his investment is already paying off.
Drake, who is a well-known sports card enthusiast, met with Ken Goldin from Goldin Auctions to break open some boxes of basketball cards.
During Instagram Live, they opened ten cases of Flawless Basketball, Fleer, and Topps Chrome cards.
Ken Goldin posted on Instagram: ” Drake and I are on IG live NOW ripping 10 cases of Flawless Basketball, some 1986 Fleer and 2003 Topps Chrome. Join us as we hunt for the triple Logoman, Jordan & Lebron Rookies.”
In the following video posted on Twitter by Goldin, Drake opened a box and one of the cards he pulled out was a 1986 Michael Jordan Fleer Rookie Card.
Depending on the condition, this Michael Jordan memorabilia is estimated to sell for upwards of $700,000 USD due to the growth in demand for sports cards and the ultra-rareness of the current ’86 Fleer card picked by Drake.
Goldin Auctions broke a world record when they sold two 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan Rookie cards for $738,000 USD apiece in February of this year. Both cards received a Gem Mint PSA 10 rating due to their near-perfect condition.
Drizzy also pulled five additional Jordan cards, including two standard rookie cards and three rookie sticker cards, increasing his total to six. The rapper opened packs of 2003-2004 Topps Chrome Basketball and a handful of boxes of Panini Flawless basketball in his box-breaking video alongside Goldin.
To be evaluated, the cards must have a PSA of 9 or 10. Drake has a good chance of obtaining a PSA 9 or 10 because he opened the pack straight out of an old, 35-year-old pack that is in good condition.
