DALLAS, TX – If you’re tapped into the Dallas music scene, chances are you’ve come across Chiz — whether it’s at a club, bar, casino, or even a wedding. The Dallas-based rapper has been steadily building his name with high-energy performances and music that hits a balance between old-school soul and modern fire.
You might’ve caught him performing live at spots like Poor David’s Pub, The Rail Club, Ridgelea Theater, the Dallas African Museum of Art, or one of the many private parties he’s booked for. Wherever the stage, Chiz brings the same thing: raw energy, connection with the crowd, and music that moves.
Chiz released his first full-length album City Lights on March 29, 2019 — a 16-track project that introduced his lyrical talent and set the tone for his sound: rooted in hip-hop tradition but full of his own flavor. In 2023, he followed up with City Lights 2, a sequel that showcased how far he’d come, with tighter production and more personal storytelling.
Recently, Chiz dropped a brand new track named “Infamous” featuring longtime collaborator Fly Hi — and this one switches things up. With a modern drill-inspired sound, the track shows a different side of Chiz. He’s not just sticking to old-school vibes; he’s stepping into new territory and doing it well. It’s a sign of his growth — proof he’s evolving, taking risks, and showing he can adapt without losing his identity.
Chiz musical roots go way back. Raised in a home where music was always playing, he fell in love with hip-hop early on. His real start came in San Antonio, where he met an artist that got him into recording. He began sending music to his friend Fly Hi in Dallas — who had already been making music — and the two started building a sound together. When Chiz eventually moved back to Dallas, he hit the studio for himself and hasn’t looked back since. For the past five years, he’s been grinding — releasing singles, videos, and getting solid feedback from fans and independent radio stations.
One of Chiz standout songs, “Better Dayz” (featuring CP), has become a fan favorite. The song hits on themes of starting from nothing and using whatever gifts you’ve got to build something meaningful. CP’s vocals on the hook give it that extra emotion, making it one of Chiz’s most powerful tracks to date.
Chiz draws heavy inspiration from hip-hop icons like Outkast, Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, 2Pac, Nas, and Jay-Z. Most of his catalog leans into that classic, lyrical style, with beats and flows that nod to the golden era of rap. While his latest release shows he’s open to experimenting with more current sounds, at the core of it all is a consistent message: motivation and self-belief.
You can follow Chiz on Instagram and YouTube at @chiz_214 to check out his latest music, visuals, and show updates. With talent, drive, and a clear voice, Chiz isn’t just repping Dallas — he’s aiming to reach the world.
