Surveillance footage has been released showing the deadly shooting that left Sauce Walka injured and claimed the life of his artist, Sayso P, in downtown Memphis. The incident happened on March 22 outside the Westin Hotel across from the FedEx Forum.

In the viral video circulating online, two men are seen exiting a white Dodge Charger and approaching a black Cadillac Escalade before opening fire. Another person, believed to be Sauce Walka, is seen running away. After the shooting, the suspects got back into the Charger and drove off.

Sayso P, born Letorian Hunt, was shot and killed. He was 27 years old. Sauce Walka, who suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, was taken to a local hospital and is now recovering.

About Sayso P

Sayso P was a rising star in Memphis and a key member of The Sauce Factory (TSF) collective, collaborating closely with Sauce Walka. Sauce Walka often referred to Sayso P as part of his “familia” and worked closely with him on various projects. His work and dedication to the local scene made him a notable figure, with his roots firmly planted in the vibrant culture of his hometown.

His music drew from the challenges of growing up in poverty and the struggles of keeping kids out of trouble, while also celebrating the rich African American heritage of Memphis. Deeply inspired by Houston’s rap culture, Sayso P blended raw street stories with soulful melodies, leaving a lasting impact on the rap scene.

Sayso P’s Mother Speaks Out

Following the news of her son’s death, Sayso P’s mother made a public statement, sharing her thoughts on what happened:

“Haters set him up… He was too loyal. Too loyal to the wrong people was his biggest downfall.”

Her words have added to the growing conversation online, with many fans and social media users reacting to the tragedy and speculating about the circumstances.

Sauce Walka Responds

Sauce Walka posted a video tribute on social media in the days after the shooting, confirming Sayso P’s death and sending his condolences. In the clip, he was seen with a bloody bandage on his leg.

Sauce Walka also left an Instagram post, sharing memories and words for Sayso P. In the post, he wrote:

Online Speculation Picks Up

In the days since the shooting, rumors and theories have started spreading online. Some users questioned Sauce Walka’s energy and attitude in videos posted after the shooting, with a few even pointing out how quickly his tone shifted from the initial tribute to promoting business ventures.

There are also unconfirmed rumors circulating about Sauce having insurance policies on artists, though no official sources or documentation have backed that claim. As of now, there’s no public evidence supporting those claims, and no charges have been filed related to the incident.

Police Continue Investigation

According to the Memphis Police Department, the shooting does not appear to be random.

“This appeared to be a targeted shooting,” said MPD Assistant Chief Don Crowe. “The victims were outside by a vehicle. The suspect vehicle pulled up. Multiple people got out and fired shots without saying a word. Then they left.”

The white Dodge Charger used in the shooting has been identified, but no arrests have been made. Police say they are using downtown surveillance and other tools to track the suspects. Investigators also said the victims and suspects were likely known to each other.
