Netflix is bringing you a movie that will be sure to have you on the edge of your seat!
This September, Queen Latifah, Ludacris, and Beau Bridges will star in the action thriller “End Of The Road” on Netflix.
The new action thriller movie is coming to Netflix on Friday, September 9th at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET.
Written by David Loughery, based on the original draft by Christopher Moore, this film tells the story of a family who witnesses a murder while moving to the southland traveling—a disruption that completely changes their plans for settling in that region. When murder and stolen money place her family in jeopardy, a recently widowed mom fights to protect them during this action-packed road trip gone wrong. A mysterious killer will now do whatever it takes to track them down and silence them forever.
The cast of the “End Of The Road” upcoming movie helmed by Millicent Shelton includes Queen Latifah as Brenda, Beau Bridges, Ludacris as Reggie, Jesse Luken as Harvey Ruck, Frances Lee McCain as Val, Travis Hammer as Skinny, Keith Jardine as Mace, Tabatha Shaun as Shelby, Shaun Dixon as Cam and more!
Director Millicent Shelton sat down with ESSENCE magazine for an exclusive interview about her new film.
Shelton is known for her work on 30 Rock and Starz’s Run The World, but she tells ESSENCE that this movie is unlike anything audiences have seen.
During the interview, she revealed that Queen Latifah was instrumental in bringing Ludacris onboard for the role of Reggie.
“Queen Latifah is the one who initially suggested Ludacris for the role of Reggie,” director Millicent Shelton tells ESSENCE. “I’ve been a long-time fan of the Fast and Furious franchise and his music but had never met him. The first time we met over Zoom I immediately knew that we would hit it off and that he would nail the role of Reggie.”
Shelton continued saying: “Chris understood that Reggie was that member in every family that everyone loves but is a screw-up, and nobody expects anything of him yet there is more to him.”
The director detailed her vision for the film and discussed how challenging it was to create the film.
“When I initially read the script, I knew that I needed to portray this family as a regular middle-class family but also emphasize their experiences as a Black family traveling through the South,” she said. “We really wanted to hone into the truth of that experience by making it relatable to what really happens in African-American lives in the United States.”
Shelton says that they created a new genre of film with End of the Road: “It’s a family-based action road trip thriller movie,” she says. “Having that combination of action and the heart of a family makes it really special.”
On her Instagram account Shelton shared the trailer of the movie with the following caption:
“Last Summer, I was blessed to be able to bring this story to life with @QueenLatifah, @Ludacris, @mychalalee, @shaundixonofficial, & @mrbeaubridges. Thank you to all of them and @netflixfilm!”
“BUCKLE UP Queen Latifah and Chris Bridges (Ludacris) star in END OF THE ROAD, a road trip thriller where one family must fight their way out of an unexpected detour. Only on Netflix Sept 9th.”
