He Was Still 39 When All This Went Down
DRAKE WASN’T EVEN 40 YET WHEN THIS HAPPENED. He was born Oct. 24, 1986, so the real birthday was Saturday. But the Backstreet Boys moment went down Friday night, Oct. 23, basically a party for the party. LOCATION CHECK: some early reports said he booked Cipriani on 42nd Street, but Billboard and TMZ both say the real spot was Casa Cipriani. Same last name, different building, don’t mix them up. It was a private party too. TMZ’s sources claim over 400 friends and family packed in, but nobody’s confirmed that headcount on video. And so far, neither Drake nor the Backstreet Boys have posted a word about it on their own pages.
Drake Got Pulled Into a Boy Band and Nobody Objected
So the video everyone is passing around shows the BACKSTREET BOYS belting I Want It That Way like it’s 1999 all over again, and then Drake just casually hops on stage with them. According to Billboard, the group performed first and Drake joined after, which lines up with a fan clip framing it as him getting SURPRISED, not him booking a boy band like it’s a Vegas residency. Complex Music pointed to an early post from X user @zadcozzy as the first public video, though that and the Rap-Up and Akademiks TV clips are all reposts, not the original camera file. This isn’t even new territory. Back in July 2022 in Toronto, BSB brought Drake out for this exact song and joked he was basically a SIXTH MEMBER now. Tenure, apparently.
Drake’s Face Says It All (And It’s Not Happy Birthday Energy)
A clip going around, posted by @DrakeDirect, is labeled as the exact second Drake realizes the Backstreet Boys are on his own stage. His face does NOT look like a man who just brought out a boy band for fun. He looks like a man who got JUMPED BY HIS OWN PARTY. Funny part is this isn’t random for him. Back in 2022 Drake told the crowd in Toronto that I Want It That Way is tied to an old bar-mitzvah memory, so yeah, the 6 God still has a soft spot for a mall-pop classic. No real outlet has called this fake or AI, so right now it’s just getting treated as real party footage, no debunk in sight.
Drake Got Real About Mortality Mid-Party And Everyone Pressed Record
RIGHT AFTER THE BACKSTREET BOYS LEFT THE STAGE, DRAKE GRABBED THE MIC AND GOT WEIRDLY DEEP. According to Billboard, he told the crowd the night was not about a tour, an album, a bunch of videos, a fragrance, or even a Nike shoe. HE SAID IT WAS ABOUT BEING ALIVE, STAYING ALIVE. HotNewHipHop transcribed a longer version of the same lines straight off party footage, not an official Drake quote, just what the cameras caught. A fan page called DrakeDirect posted what it claims is the full speech, which is now the embed everyone is replaying for the vibes. Turning 40 apparently makes you philosophical even when the Backstreet Boys just sang about tragedy striking. Deep thoughts, expensive venue.
Nobody’s Actually Shown You the Chanel Bags or the Million Bucks
HOLD UP BEFORE YOU REPOST THAT. According to TMZ, party sources claim guests got luxury giveaways including Chanel and Hermès bags. Cool story, but no video actually shows anyone walking out with one. TMZ also says a game show offered a shot at cash prizes up to $1 million. That means a CHANCE to win, not a guaranteed million dropped in someone’s lap. People online are typing it like it already happened, but they’re just copy pasting TMZ, not posting receipts. And yeah, Drake has handed out Chanel bags at older birthdays before, but old parties don’t prove anything about this one.
