On Wednesday night (April 13) artist Dababy was involved in a shooting on his North Caroline estate.
The Troutman Police Department says they found someone who’d suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound outside a compound where DaBaby occasionally stays.
While details are still limited, it seems that someone came onto the property without permission and got shot on a football field outside DaBaby’s Troutman home for their troubles.
Law enforcement stated that the person came onto the property without permission and got shot.
According to law enforcement DaBaby and another person were at the house at the time of the shooting.
Officers have not revealed who fired the shot or whether or not charges would be brought.
However, DaBaby was confirmed today (April 15) as the shooter. The rapper said: “I shot him in the leg… he was trespassing on my property.”
According to police, a gun was recovered from the residence. No arrests have been made, and the event was turned over to the district attorney.
The victim’s identity has not been released, but they are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a Charlotte hospital.
The person who was injured was not a guest or a local. To get access to the property, police believe the suspect jumped a fence.
It’s unclear if any other people were involved in the incident (or whether anyone else was injured), but police say that they currently have no reason to suspect anyone else had anything to do with it.
Police have attended to more than 30 separate calls to the rapper’s home in the past, including burglar alarms and loudness issues.
DaBaby’s mansion is worth over $2.3 million and sits on more than 8.5 acres of land. According to investigators, there are multiple no trespassing signs around the site.
People are not allowed to walk onto the rapper’s property without permission, and there’s apparently no way to accidentally wind up on his estate—the compound where he occasionally stays is located on a road with only one house, which is of course his own.
