So RapTV Posted a Graphic and the Internet Lost It

RAPTV DROPPED A GRAPHIC CLAIMING YE JUST HIT 271 MILLION SALES IN THE US. The same picture says Taylor Swift sits at 247.5 million, which according to the post makes Ye the SECOND HIGHEST SELLING ARTIST IN US HISTORY. No cap, that would be a massive flex if true. The post is just an image, no source cited, no link to RIAA or anything official backing up the numbers. It just showed up on X looking official and people started sharing it like it was fact. That is basically the whole claim right now, a chart with big numbers and zero receipts attached.

Okay But Here's What We Could Actually Confirm

ONE THING IS 100% TRUE: RapTV really did post that graphic on July 18, 2026. That part checks out. Also true, Ye is in fact a hip-hop artist, in case you needed that confirmed too.

But the NUMBERS on that picture? The RIAA, the actual organization that hands out official gold and platinum plaques in America, does not have Ye or Taylor Swift sitting anywhere near those totals. Their real certified numbers are way lower and don’t put Ye at number two all-time. So somebody made a slide that looks official and it just… Isn’t.

So Where Did These Numbers Actually Come From? Nowhere Real

Here is the problem. NOBODY CAN FIND WHERE THESE NUMBERS CAME FROM. X user @Rap posted the graphic claiming Ye sits at 271 million sales and Taylor Swift at 247.5 million, but the RIAA has no record matching either figure. Their actual certified totals put Ye closer to 163 million and Taylor around 137.5 million, and neither one touches the official all time list, where The Beatles and Garth Brooks still run things. So the claim that Ye is now officially “second all time” in US sales? STILL UNVERIFIED. No outlet, no chart, no RIAA update backs it up. It is a nice graphic. It is just not proof of anything.

So… Is Ye Really #2 All Time? Nope, Not Yet

HERE’S THE REAL TALK: NONE OF THIS IS CONFIRMED. The 271M vs 247.5M numbers only exist in one graphic posted by X user @Rap. That’s it. That’s the whole receipt.

When you actually check RIAA certified numbers, Ye sits around 163M units and Taylor’s around 137.5M, and neither of those match the graphic at all. Wikipedia’s own ranking list doesn’t put Ye at number two either. The Beatles and Garth Brooks are still up there running things.

So the claim of Ye passing Taylor as the second highest seller in US history is UNVERIFIED. Could be a mixup with global sales or made up units. Either way, don’t quote this like it’s fact until somebody with actual data backs it up.
