Rochester-based rapper 38 Spesh has announced a slew of exciting new projects during a recent interview on the Bootleg Kev podcast. The rapper, known for his hard-hitting lyricism and gritty beats, revealed that he has been hard at work in the studio, cooking up some new material with some of hip hop‘s biggest names.
During the interview, 38 Spesh revealed that he has a new album with Conway the Machine in the works. The album, titled “Special Machinery”, has already been completed and is set to be released in the coming months. Speaking about the project, 38 Spesh said: “The people gotta get ready for that. Me and Conway going crazy.” The album features ten tracks, all produced by 38 Spesh and Jimmy Dukes.
38 Spesh also revealed that the album features some exciting collaborations, including appearances by Lloyd Banks and Pharoahe Monch. The rapper was tight-lipped about the specifics of these collaborations, but he did promise that fans can expect greatness when the album drops.
The rapper, who made a name for himself producing Benny the Butcher‘s 2018 album “Stabbed & Shot”, also announced that he and Benny are currently working on a follow-up project. The two have been in the studio together, cooking up new material that is sure to excite fans of their previous collaboration. “Stabbed & Shot 2 is on the way,” 38 Spesh revealed during the podcast. “Y’all get ready for that.”
While 38 Spesh couldn’t confirm a release date for the new Benny the Butcher collaboration, he did suggest that it could be dropping later this year. “It might come this year, it’s a strong possibility,” he said. “If not, it’s definitely coming next year.”
The rapper also spoke about the collaborative process, comparing working with Conway the Machine to working with Benny the Butcher. While he noted that there are some differences in the way the two collaborations have been approached, 38 Spesh emphasized that both projects are united by a fierce competitive spirit that brings out the best in everyone involved.
“Me and Ben we were recording for a longer period of time right now,” he explained. “We have been doing this together for a long time, we got a lot of chemistry together. Me and Conway we ain’t record as much but we still got history. The recording process is still the same though, we still go in there and give it our best. It’s a very competitive situation. Every time we are in the room it’s great anytime.”
