The goat is officially out of the bag. The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation confirmed that JAY-Z WILL HEADLINE THE SUPER BOWL LXI HALFTIME SHOW. It happens on February 14, 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
The Goat Gets His Own Stage
The news dropped during Monday Night Football with a black and white teaser. Jay sits in empty stadium seats, shades on, surrounded by actual goats. NFL insider Ian Rapoport summed it up in four words: Jay-Z it is, perfect.
The Plot Everybody Saw Coming
Roc Nation has picked the halftime headliner every year since its 2019 deal with the NFL. Earlier this month a report said HE PICKED HIMSELF. Cam’ron and Mase joked that it was all a ploy to land the slot, according to Complex. Now it is real.
Goodell Asked For This Years Ago
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said that when the league first made its deal with Roc Nation, he asked for ONE THING: JAY-Z PERFORMING HIMSELF SOMEDAY. Apple Music VP Oliver Schusser said the company is thrilled and promised an incredible show. Jay called it a dream come true that stretches across a 30 year career.
Who Is Running The Show
Roc Nation will executive produce. Hamish Hamilton is directing. He also directed Beyoncé’s 2013 halftime show and Jay’s 2003 concert special. The game airs on ESPN, ABC and Disney+, plus NFL+ on mobile. It lands right after Jay’s JAŸ-Z30 tour, which ended at SoFi Stadium.
What Happens Next
No guest list or setlist has been announced. Expect the internet to argue about who shows up. For now, THE GOAT HAS HIS HALFTIME and there are about three and a half months to wait.
