As we've all heard by now, Asap Rocky is facing serious criminal charges. He's been accused of shooting his former friend during an argument in Hollywood last November.

, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was charged with two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm—with allegations that he personally used a firearm during the commission of those assaults. If found guilty on both charges, Rocky could face up to nine years in prison.

After the altercation in November, Terell Ephron (also known as A$AP Relli), a member of the ASAP Mob group, filed a civil lawsuit against his former friend and fellow rapper Rocky. He claimed that he was injured by bullet fragments when Rocky fired at him.

Ephron aka ASAP Relli claims that Rocky pulled a gun and fired two shots in his direction, intending to harm him. He says that this has caused him physical, emotional, and mental harm. Rocky's former friend is also demanding at least $25K in damages.

On Monday, August 15 the County District Attorney George Gascón charged the rapper with two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm.

In a statement, Gascón said: “Discharging a gun in a public place is a serious offense that could have ended with tragic consequences not only for the person targeted but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood.”

“My office conducted a thorough review of the evidence in this case and determined that the addition of a special firearm allegation was warranted.”: he added.

Prosecutors allege that Rocky pointed a semiautomatic weapon at his victim, causing injury by shooting him twice. The alleged victim suffered only minor wounds as a result of this attack.

While the Los Angeles police were serving a search warrant at the rapper's house in April, officers found multiple firearms.

The Harlem rapper was arrested upon touching down at Los Angeles LAX airport on April 20th, days after his Barbados vacation with then-pregnant girlfriend Rihanna. He posted a $550,000 bond and was released from jail.

ASAP Rocky will be arraigned on Wednesday, August 17 in Los Angeles.
