Kodak Black isn’t happy with the results of the Bet Hip-Hop Awards and took to social media to ask fans to boycott the award show.
Yak’s “Super Gremlin” song has been snubbed by BET Hip Hop Awards, who instead awarded the prize for best song of the year to Latto‘s “Big Energy.”
The Super Gremlin rapper took to social media to vent his frustrations with the BET Hip-Hop Awards. Latto won over Kodak Black’s song and this didn’t sit well with the superstar.
The Florida native has been outspoken about his feelings on social media and asked fans to help him boycott the BET Awards.
This isn’t the first time that a rapper has complained about losing at the BET Awards—and it probably won’t be the last. But it is interesting to see what happens when someone like Kodak Black takes matters into his own hands and asks his fans to join him in boycotting the event.
In a recent tweet, Yak wrote: “Everyone Needa Boycott @Connieorlando & @BET ! Y’all Lame AF & Y’all Not Really For The People Fr ! BET WATERED DOWN!!!”

Black’s Twitter followers have also taken to their accounts in support of him, saying things like” Big Energy Samples Fantasy by Mariah Carey. BET ain’t never been based off no YT ratings. It’s based off white folks! BET ain’t black owned no more. Y’all need to smell the mf coffee! Latto profits from yt folk because she’s considered a pop/rap crossover.”
In this clip, we see Yak all confident at first when his name was announced as the BET Award nominee, but then his mood changed drastically when he heard that Latto won over him.
After losing the Award for Best Song Of The Year, Yak explains in a video shared with his fans that he doesn’t hate anyone. He knew that BET would mess around and give the award to “Frappuccino” (referring to Latto).

In a series of tweets, Kodak Black lashed out at the BET Awards.
“Not Drake! Not Future ! But Lache??? Hell Nawl !!!! @Connieorlando Needs To B Fired !! Dat Stupid Ass Song Ain’t Move Nobody ! Forget About Me At This Point ! AT LEAST “Fuck N*gga Free” Was A Anthem! Tf You Think ” SONG OF THE YEAR” Mean ???
“The Woman Empowerment Shit Kool ! Don’t Take Nun From Nobody But You Still Gotta Work For It! Don’t Jus Simply Give It To Somebody Kuz They A Woman !!!! If That’s The Case Y’all Shoulda Gave Song Of The Year To Glorilla Not That Hating Ass Mutt”
The backlash over Kodak Black’s loss at the BET Hip-Hop Awards comes as no surprise considering how much streaming numbers have been driving conversations around music lately. According to Spotify, Latto’s song has reached 100 million streams on Spotify while Kodak Black had 244 million streams for his song “Super Gremlin”.
However, many people have expressed their disappointment at Kodak’s reaction. They say that it shows poor sportsmanship and that he should have taken the loss like a man.
Another artist who deserved to win over others was Fivio Foreign. The rapper lost the “Best Breakthrough Artist” award to Glorilla at this year’s BET Hip-Hop Awards, but he took it in stride and congratulated his opponent graciously.
Despite the critics, Fivio responded by saying “I did not get robbed…Glorilla won because she deserved it and I am happy for her.”
The backlash to Kanye West and Candace Owens' "White Lives Matter" shirts continues on social media. Kanye West had his Season 9 fashion show in Paris on Monday, and it wasn't your typical runway event. The rapper made a bold statement by using Black models to wear "White Lives Matter" shirts, which he created himself. Twitter user Blue Alexia expressed her thoughts about the Black models wearing the White Lives […]
