Lil Tjay In Critical Condition After Being Shot

Rapper Lil Tjay was shot last night, after midnight on Wednesday, June 22. He is currently undergoing emergency surgery at a local hospital in New Jersey.

Police say that he is undergoing emergency surgery for his wounds and the extent of his injuries is not yet known.

Neither the police nor Lil Tjay’s management has released any details about what led to the shooting, but it is believed that he was targeted by unknown assailants.

According to reports, there were two gunshots in Edgewater, New Jersey: one occurred inside a Chipotle restaurant, and the second occurred at an Exxon gas station. In each event, there was a single victim.

Prosecutor Mark Musella stated that officers responded to a 911 call just after midnight at the Promenade where they discovered an individual with several gunshot wounds.

It appears that the victim at Chipotle had more gunshot wounds than the victim at Exxon.

The crimes unit and Edgewater PD are examining both incidents, according to the Bergen County Prosecutors Office.

There is yet no confirmation of Tjay’s shooting location, and the identity of the second victim is unknown.

Police are urgently seeking the suspected shooters, who are reported still on the run.

Fans and supporters from Lil Tjay immediately sent their best wishes for a quick recovery after hearing about the event.

New reports: “A source tells us Tjay is out of surgery and appears to be doing better but he’s still not out of the woods yet.”

With regard to the shooting of Lil Tjay, three persons have been detained, one of whom authorities think was the gunman.

According to police, a robbery attempt allegedly targeted the rapper.

Mohamed Konate, 27, has been detained and is being held as the main suspect in Tjay’s shooting, according to a statement from the Bergen County, New Jersey prosecutor’s office. Three counts of attempted murder, three counts of armed robbery, and several more accusations involving illegal firearms have been brought against Konate.

A week ago, rapper Lil Tjay shared a short clip of an unreleased song. The song is called “Stressed.”

In the caption, Lil Tjay writes “Dis gon be a good summer.”

After undergoing emergency surgery on Wednesday, June 22, Lil Tjay is apparently still unconscious.

In order to determine the extent of the harm done to his body, Tjay is scheduled for a CAT scan, according to individuals close to the case. Apparently, the rapper has not moved his body at all, except for his leg.

UPDATE JUNE 30:

The rapper is recovering well, and although he is still in the hospital, insiders familiar with his case report that he is awake and alert and even speaking for himself.


The most encouraging development is that after having his breathing tube removed, his voice still sounds just how it did before the tragedy. Police want to talk to him about the specifics of the shooting now that he can speak.
