Young Dolph Gets Tunnel Renamed In His Honor At Jackson State University

In a moving tribute to Young Dolph, Jackson State University has renamed their football stadium tunnel to honor the rapper and Memphis native. The Paper Route Tunnel, as it's now called, is where players enter and exit the field after every game.

Young Dolph attended a homecoming game back in October 2021. The Memphis native watched Jackson State defeat Alabama State 28-7. After the game, Dolph joined the team at their celebration in the locker room, where they all turned up to his smash hit “100 Shots.” The video footage went viral on social media.

In a tweet, Jackson State University football coach Deion Sanders paid homage to the late Memphis native Young Dolph.

In the tweet, Deion Sanders expressed: “I hope to God these rumors ain't true about my friend, my brother, and a man dear to my Sons @YoungDolph. Lord help us as a people stop the hate, the violence, and the hopelessness. When we realize we matter others will as well. Lord help us right now. #CoachPrime”

On November 17, 2021, rap artist Young Dolph was shot and killed in his hometown Memphis. The Memphis-born rapper was shot outside the Makeda's Butter Cookies store at about 1 pm in the afternoon. Since then, three persons have been detained in connection with Dolph's murder.

The death of Young Dolph was a complete shock to the city of Memphis and to the many fans who admired Dolph's work. The rapper has been applauded for his music as well as for his charity work in Memphis.

Young Dolph's impact at Memphis' Hamilton High School reached far beyond his music. Young Dolph contributed $25,000 to his former high school in 2020, and he visited the students to share an important message. “Nothing in this world stays the same forever. Everything happens for a reason.”

Students at Hamilton High School recalled the Memphis icon for his dedication and kindness two days after he was shot and killed at Makeda's Cookies.
