In a trailer clip for his upcoming Jason Lee interview, someone asks Rocky about fighting Drake and he says he would do it “BARE KNUCKLES LIKE THE IRISH.” No context on if he was joking, serious, or just cooking up a quote to get people talking. The full interview drops today, August 5, so we will find out if he actually explains himself or just leaves everyone hanging.

Akademiks reacted to the clip too, basically asking if rap beefs even mean anything anymore since rival camps were reportedly chilling at a World Cup event with zero drama. Fair point honestly. Everybody wants to talk fight talk online then act cool in person. Bare knuckles sound tough until somebody actually has to show up.

Akademiks Thinks This Whole Beef Might Be Fake News

DJ AKADEMIKS SAW THE CLIP AND WASN’T BUYING IT. He came out and asked the real question nobody wants to ask: is any of this rap beef stuff even real anymore? According to Akademiks, rival camps were literally standing around at a WORLD CUP EVENT together and nothing happened. No pushing, no yelling, no nothing. Just dudes existing near each other like coworkers at a boring office party.

His point is basically that if these guys really wanted smoke, that was the moment. Instead everybody stayed calm, which makes it look like the beef talk is mostly for content and clicks. Kind of like how Akademiks himself loves a wild headline. So is Rocky’s Drake comment serious or just marketing for a trailer? Akademiks clearly thinks it’s the second one.
